We did it in 2018 and now we are doing it again in support of a fantastic local charity
Bangers and Cash 2023, from 14 September 2023 to 19 September 2023
Back in the heady days of 2018, many of you got involved with our crazy mission:
Drive through Europe with the BBC in an Old Banger to raise money to combat youth homelessness in Sheffield.
Many miles were driven, many mishaps endured, many thousands raised and many young people’s lives changed for the better.
The mission simple: Old Car, bonnet painted by an esteemed artist, drive through Europe, do various challenges, auction bonnet art at the end, scrap the car.
In true Sheffield fashion, with the backbeat of Spandau Ballet ringing in the mental jukebox “5 years later on….” we are going back in, raising money for the young homeless and driving through Europe in a car costing less than a packet of Lurpak.
Last time, £650.00 was spent on an Old Freelander. – Y291 SUB.
A bit of AMI hard work and spit and polish and a load of getting parts like nudge bars and side steps and work lights converted the Green Beast into something a little more useful.
Next was getting sponsorship and the bonnet painted.
We went for the Crocodile look, and away we went.
After huge fun and drama, Old Croc Car got to Monte Carlo in one piece. AMI won the fancy dress “as Crocodile Dundee-dar”
